MERS Goodwill Hosts Grand Opening of New Jennings Retail Store
Ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. June 17 in former Target building
ST. LOUIS (June 9, 2021) – MERS Goodwill shoppers will have a spacious new place to shop with the grand opening of its latest retail store in Jennings. The new store, located at 8007 West Florissant Avenue, will replace Goodwill’s Forest Park location at 4200 Forest Park Avenue in St. Louis which will be closing. The move to this new building with over 124,000 square feet as a former Target location, provides the opportunity for more storage, a larger retail store and a new Donation Drive-Thru canopy, making giving back to the community more convenient than ever.
With 16,000 square feet of retail space, Jennings bargain shoppers can look forward to beating the heat this summer with brand new finds and summer fashions. The opening celebration and ribbon cutting ceremony will take place the morning of Thursday, June 17, at approximately 9:50 a.m., just before the doors open at 10:00 a.m.
“Goodwill continues to look for more ways to better serve our customers and community throughout the area,” said David Kutchback, President and CEO of MERS Goodwill. “This building in Jennings will provide shoppers with the great prices and experience they expect in a brand-new location, including better lighting and a more convenient donating process. Our incredible retail team has been busy getting it ready for opening this month and we’re ready to fill up the vast space.”
In addition to the exciting new retail store the Jennings location has a newly renovated 10 bay truck well dock that services over 73,000 square feet of space for the expansion of MERS Goodwill’s E-Commerce Division. Additional space at the Jennings location will house mission-based programs including the nonprofit’s Contracts Division, as well as an 8,900 square foot shared Employee Café.
Revenue from MERS Goodwill’s retail stores helps fund its employment and rehabilitation programs. Goodwill programs help individuals who face economic, physical, mental or other disadvantages look for and find employment. Services offered include those that teach basic software skills and skills training as well as job development and placement activities. Additional programs offered through Goodwill also include four Goodwill Excel Centers. These are free adult high schools located in St. Louis, Springfield, Poplar Bluff and Columbia.
All MERS Goodwill retail stores are open for shopping seven days a week with hours on Sunday of 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Monday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Donations are accepted from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at all stores except the outlet stores. Bargain seekers and treasure hunters enjoy Goodwill for its wide variety of clothing and household goods with one-of-a-kind appeal priced at bottom dollar. Because Goodwill stores restock several times daily, shoppers can always find something new.
