Free Meals Will Expire in August 2022
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) free meal program will expire for all students in August of 2022.
The free school meals program, initially introduced in March of 2020 as the pandemic began, was not included in the spending bill recently passed by the Senate. This means that free meals for all students will expire after the 2022 summer school session.
In August, the district will have 2022-23 Free and Reduced Lunch Applications available on our website, in our building level offices and through your child's teacher. Families must complete the application if they are hoping to qualify for free or reduced meals during the 2022-23 school year. Families that do not fill out the application, or do not qualify for free or reduced meals, will be charged for each meal their child consumes. This applies to all students at all buildings, even if these students or buildings have been free in the past.
Families are encouraged to review meal account balances for meals consumed before March 2020 or for a la carte items that may have been charged to the account. Please pay any negative balances as soon as possible.
