Festus R-VI Hall of Fame 30th Anniversary & Relocation Celebration
On Thursday, November 10 at 7:00pm, the public is invited to a Festus R-VI Hall of Fame 30th anniversary & relocation celebration in the Performing Arts Center. The hall of fame inducted its first member in the fall of 1992. Former educator and Douglass High School alumna Mrs. Bernice Thompson was the first inductee. Since that time, 28 other individuals have become members of the Festus R-VI Hall of Fame. All living hall of fame inductees have been invited to the celebration.
For decades, the portraits and biographies have hung in a hallway in the high school. With the opening of the Festus R-VI Performing Arts Center, the District has a new, public way to showcase our inductees. In addition to the portraits that will hang on the wall, a new interactive monitor will display pictures and biographies. It will also display yearbooks dating back to 1950 and all of the District's Tommy Alexander award winners. Additional honors and awards will be added at a later date.
The celebration on November 10th will give the public a chance to see the new hall of fame, meet the hall of fame members in attendance and enjoy some cake.
