February 07, 2023
ALTAMONT, KS - Noah Hentzen, a senior at Labette County High School, was honored by the Labette County Sheriff's Office today.
On the morning of January 12, 2023, Hentzen was traveling south on Ness road when he came upon a head-on collision involving 7 individuals, 5 of them children. Hentzen quickly called 911 and jumped into action, undoubtedly saving the lives of the mother and 5 children trapped in one of the cars.
The dispatcher and well as Sheriff Eichinger spoke, commending Hentzen for his cool head in a time of panic. "Noah was by far the best caller I have ever had," said Shelli Blair, the 911 call center operator that took Hentzen's call. "He was calm under pressure. He took everything seriously and never lost composure."
Stacy Smith said of Hentzen, "Noah is a kid you can count on. He has a kind heart beneath that rough exterior he puts on."
Congratulations Noah.
