Solar Eclipse Information
Wildcat Families,
On April 8, portions of Missouri will be along the path of a solar eclipse. Locally, this will be experienced as a partial eclipse, occurring during the regular school day.
The district has purchased protective eyewear for our intermediate, middle school and high school students. Students in grades 3-12 will go outside and will view the partial eclipse. As always, student safety is our top priority. The safe way to view an eclipse is through special-purpose solar filters, or “eclipse glasses.” Eclipse glasses will be provided to students in those grade levels.
Please note, looking directly at the sun without protection is unsafe. At no time should students look directly at the sun as it could cause permanent damage to their eyes. While teachers will make every effort to monitor students, keeping the glasses on at all times will be the responsibility of each student. We encourage you to stress the importance of this matter to your child.
If you DO NOT want your child to participate in this educational outdoor eclipse viewing, please contact your child’s building level office by 9am on Monday, April 8.

- Middle School Office: 417.846.1280
- High School Office: 417.846.1290
Students at Eunice Thomas Elementary will complete indoor eclipse activities throughout the day and will view a live streaming of the eclipse on their classroom promethean board via the NASA Eclipse Live Stream.
We are excited for our students to be a part of this extraordinary experience as they deepen their understanding of the universe. Thank you for letting us share this journey with them.
Sincerely,
Cassville Schools
