Solar Eclipse Information
Cashion Public Schools will take advantage of the unique opportunity for our students to view the solar eclipse on Monday, April 8.
As always, the safety of our students is top priority and this event is no exception. We will take precautionary measures with both students and staff to ensure that the experience is safe and enjoyable. Because we value this opportunity as a unique learning experience, the district will supply all students and staff with ISO and AAS certified eclipse glasses to observe the eclipse. Students will not be permitted to look at the sun at any time without these glasses. Homemade filters or sunglasses, even very dark ones, do not provide adequate protection to the eyes. For more information regarding safety precautions for viewing the eclipse, please visit NASA's 2024 Solar Eclipse Viewing Safety Sheet.
All students attending school on Monday, April 8th will participate in the eclipse viewing unless a family wishes to OPT-OUT by submitting this form. Every effort will be made to minimize the risk for students, but if a student does not comply with instructions and directions of the district’s staff members, students may be exposed to potential risks associated with viewing the sun. Parents/guardians assume the risk for any injuries or damages resulting from their student’s participation by allowing the student to participate.
If you DO NOT want your student to participate in viewing the 2024 Solar Eclipse, please fill out this form no later than Monday, Apr 8, 2024 at 8:00am.
